Gabriel Battaglia was born in 1965 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, into a family of musicians. He started playing the guitar at the age of six and learned folklore and Argentine tango from his family in Buenos Aires.

Battaglia's style reflects the strong connection to the roots and essence of Argentine music that he has intuitively developed over time. His style is very personal and based on the free interpretation of tango.

With this freedom, he creates a continuous renewal of this music, which nevertheless preserves the spirit of the Rio de la Plata. Gabriel has lived in Germany since 1989 and is currently based in Berlin. Since then he has performed with various ensembles and shared the stage with great artists, such as the bandoneonists Alfredo Marcucci, Carlos Buono, Osvaldo Montes, Gustavo Battistessa, Miguel Fernandez, Marco Antonio Fernandez, and Leonel Gasso in renowned theaters, festivals, and milongas in Germany and across Europe.
